Repair Engineer- Electronics Test/ Service/ Engineer

A self motivated Repair Engineer is required for the Quality Department of my specialist client based in Fareham, Hampshire

 

Reporting to the Calibration and Repair Supervisor the Repair Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties listed below:

 

 

Role Overview

 

  • Fault finding and repair of all test equipment within the business in the best time/cost effective manner; types of equipment include power amplifiers, receivers, communications test sets, signal generators, scopes and AC/DC power sources.  Repairs are usually performed to component level so a good understanding of electronic circuits is required.
  • Work with Quality Engineer in prioritising work load to ensure high priority test equipment is returned to service as soon as possible.
  • Where repair in-house is not possible, arrange and manage external subcontracts.
  • Source and purchase spare parts as required and maintain a stock of the commonly used parts.
  • Keep operational managers informed when an item is going to be in repair for an extended period.
  • Supply technical support to the test areas as and when required, this can include rewiring chambers, making plugs, connectors & cables and the design & construction of any special to type test fixtures that are required,
  • Design, fitting and maintenance of chamber interlocks.
  • Occasional travel to the Warwickshire laboratory to conduct repairs in-situ.
  • Support, advice and repair service to other parts of the group

 

Essential Criteria:

 

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in electronics  or a Service apprenticeship in an electronics related trade
  • At least 5 years’ practical experience in electronic fault finding and repair to component level

 

  • Self motivated with a high degree of flexibility
  • Have team ‘ethos’ to provide support to other members of the department and operational areas
  • Organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • PC Literate.
