Advanced Selection Ltd have been appointed by our  specialist manufacturing client based in Hampshire to find a motivated Controls Design Engineer to act as a Controls / Electrical Design engineer for designated projects.

The main purpose of the role is to produce detail electrical and controls design of the company’s machines which comply with the relevant International and company standards to enable them to achieve their design specification. Also, provide electrical/controls design support to customer and company departments.

This role is more focused on overseeing and management of the Controls /Electrical Designs of Projects.

The ideal candidate will have;

• Experience in a control systems design electrical/factory control environment.
• Preparation of P&ID’s and electrical/controls design drawings.
• Specifying instrumentation and electrical/electronic components.
• Compilation of parts lists.
• Specification development and writing.
• Working knowledge Autocad 2008 or later with at least 1 years use experience
• Ideally be HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering qualified or similar
• Relevant experience in a control systems design electrical/factory control or machine design , capital equipment , processing equipment environment is highly desirable.

Desirable:

• Working knowledge of electrical CAD package (ELCAD Advantage)
• Working knowledge of Machinery safety standards (EN 13849-1, EN62061)
• Knowledge PLC /HMI Software and configuration knowledge (Siemens/Allen Bradley) Advantage
• Awareness of Factory wide control systems

This role would suit someone with an Controls Design electrical/ controls design background with knowledge of the wider PLC control systems.

Responsibilities of the role;

• Oversee and manage electrical/controls aspects of specified projects to ensure delivery to specification.
• Write and develop functional design specifications for machines and control systems.
• Produce and maintain P&ID’s for machines on a project basis.
• Production and maintenance of all connection drawings and Bill’s of materials covering the electrical/electronic equipment fitted to machines.
• Assist in the development of control systems design and conformity to international standards.
• Provide test and inspection of electrical/controls aspects of machines in manufacture to ensure compliance to standards and drawings.
